When they come across an artificial light source in the dark it throws them off course and they end up continually burning themselves on the light. Meanwhile they fail to get where they want to go. I couldn't help but feel this was a good analogy of humans (well OK me :-) trying to navigate through life without a true source of reference. We can't rely on our own understanding as so often this has been made slightly askew from our upbringing or bad experiences. Really, we are only going to hurt ourselves by trying to navigate through life without a true reference to keep us set on the right course. Be it from a close friend, or the Bible or whatever, we all need readjustment from time to time from a TRUE source.
